GIT/CI Training Short Course Overview
Short course (also known as construction induction training or GIT – general induction training) is the mandatory work health and safety required prior to undertaking construction work.
The course will teach students the importance of Occupational Health & Safety in the construction industry & identifies the hazards that participants may come across on a construction site.
Participants are required to have a minimum level of Literacy & Numeracy to be allowed admittance to this course.
Participants assessed as being competent receive a Statement of Training in CPCWHS1001- Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (VIC).

GIT/CI Training (Short Course) Delivery
All students completing this course must have moderate English. Further information is provided in the Student Handbook.
Practical Assessment –
Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry validated scenarios and simulations to assess candidates’ skills and knowledge.
Please let us know if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you from getting on the floor. It is a requirement that CPR be performed for at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.
Assessment Resources must include –
- Adult and infant resuscitation manikins in line with ARC Guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures.
- AED training device
- Workplace injury, trauma and/or illness record, or other appropriate workplace incident report form.
